In chapter 1 of our textbook, there was a paragraph on internet violence and the hazards of the internet in schools. This brought up the interesting point of how do we protect our children? Do we firewall websites based on subject and keyword? but if this is our answer, will we eventually cripple our youth? will they be unable to research a report on breast cancer because the word "breast" is in the title? This proves many obstacles for educators now and in the future.

Since last class I have learned a few things such as the names of certain computer related things that I am familiar with but didn't necessarily know the name of. I also learned just more basic foundational information on computers that will add to my expertise on technology for now on.

Today has been a trying day, I woke up at 6 a.m. showered, and went to work. I work at the Starbucks in Strozier Library, then I had to run from there to here so that I could make it to class more or less on time. Then after class I have to go to Bill's Bookstore to get a textbook for the other class I'm taking so that I can start on the tremendous amount of homework that I have already accumulated. Sigh, I can't wait for bedtime! :)

My name is Katie-Anne Harrison, I am 20 years old, and am a junior at FSU. I am double majoring in Psychology and English Literature, and I am also getting certified to teach. My time here at FSU has been full of wonderful memories and I hope to make many more.

Technology, huh, well it's actually everywhere, we in society live, breathe, and interact with it. I have an iPOD, a cell phone, two computers, a television, a palm pilot, etc. To be honest I can't remember a time when I didn't own some type of technology. The sad thing is, I don't think anyone does, technology rules our world.

In this course I hope to be able to utilize as many aspects of today's technology so that i can teach as well as can be expected. I realize that technology is a necessary evil and although i am adept I expect this course may provide me with things i may not have known. Hopefully this will be an enjoyable class that i can recommend to others.
